What is Electricity?

Basic Definition of electricity:
Electricity is the flow of electric charge or the electrons in one direction.

Circuit:

This circuit shows how electric current flows in a circuit from positive to negative, from higher potential difference to lower potential difference.

Schematics 1

Battery:

The battery is an electric energy storage device and has 2 terminal positive and negative.

Current flows from positive to negative of battery when connected to the electric load.

LED ( Light Emitting Diode):

LED is a semiconductor diode, that emits light when an electric current is flowing through it.

Resistor:

The resistor is an electrical component that reduces the electric current in the circuit.
It helps to limit the current flowing in the circuit.

Practical 1: how electricity works.

Now we will see how the Schematics 1 above can be tested in the real world, we will make a below circuit.

Circuit – 2

We will make Circuit-2 on a breadboard. Let’s see what is breadboard.

What is Breadboard:

An electronics breadboard is a solderless breadboard used for creating a prototype or temporary circuits.

Connection on a breadboard:

Make the below connection on a breadboard and you will see the LED glow.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure the led’s + – are connected properly.
  2. All connections are made as shown in the above image.

Congratulation on your first circuit.
Now we will make this LED glow in different patterns using tiny computer Arduino.
