RFID EM18 Reader Board With FTDI Basic Programmer

This tutorial of Robo India explains the working concept of RFID EM18 Reader Board With FTDI Basic Programmer.

1. Introduction

Radio frequency is an automatic identification process employed for transmitting data between an rfid card and rfid reader with the aid of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields. The rfid card is a device accustomed to store data associated with a stuff, persons, books, animals, etc. Rfid card are of types some tags may be used near to the rfid reader and a few can read from a long way away distances past the line of sight of the reader.

There are various kinds of rfid systems in the market industry that is made up of an antenna, transceiver and a transponder. These systems operate at different frequency ranges like low frequency (30-500 khz), mid frequency (900-1500 khz) and high frequency (2.4-2.5ghz).

EM-18 RFID Reader Module is the one the most commonly used module for Radio Frequency Identification Projects. It features Low Cost, Small Size, Low Power Consumption and Easy to use.
